Vào lúc 9:40 ET (14:40 GMT), Dow Jones tăng 210 điểm hay 0,6%, trong khi S&P 500 tăng 0,5% và NASDAQ Composite tăng 0,1%.

Các hợp đồng tương lai đã tăng vọt sau khi báo cáo việc làm tháng 12 cho thấy thị trường lao động hơi nguội lạnh, với thu nhập trung bình mỗi giờ giảm xuống thấp hơn. Các nhà đầu tư đang hy vọng các dấu hiệu cho thấy thị trường lao động đang chậm lại, điều này có thể khuyến khích Fed giảm tốc độ tăng lãi suất.

Tuy nhiên, báo cáo vẫn mạnh hơn một chút so với mong đợi. Bảng lương phi nông nghiệp đã tăng 223.000 vào tháng trước, thấp hơn tốc độ của tháng 11 nhưng vượt qua dự báo đồng thuận là 200.000. tỷ lệ thất nghiệp giảm xuống 3,5% so với mức 3,7% dự kiến. Điều đó đặt tỷ lệ thất nghiệp ở mức thấp nhất trong 50 năm.

Thu nhập trung bình mỗi giờ đạt 0,3%, so với kỳ vọng là 0,4%.
