AiVIF.com -- Chứng khoán Mỹ bắt đầu tháng cuối cùng của năm trái chiều sau khi tăng mạnh hôm thứ Tư với hy vọng Cục Dự trữ Liên bang sẽ bắt đầu chậm lại các đợt tăng lãi suất mạnh mẽ.

Vào lúc 9:56 ET (14:56 GMT), Dow Jones giảm 40 điểm hay 0,1%, trong khi S&P 500 tăng 0,4% và NASDAQ Composite tăng 0,6%.

Chủ tịch Fed ông Jerome Powell báo hiệu ngân hàng trung ương đã sẵn sàng tăng lãi suất với tốc độ chậm hơn. 

Thước đo lạm phát ưa thích của Fed, chỉ số tiêu dùng cá nhân cốt lõi (PCE), đã tăng 0,2% trong tháng 10 so với tháng trước. Đó là dưới mức ước tính đồng thuận là 0,3% và là một dấu hiệu lạm phát đang chậm lại.

Số đơn xin trợ cấp thất nghiệp cũng thấp hơn so với dự báo, đạt 225.000 vào tuần trước so với 235.000 dự kiến và thấp hơn so với tuần trước. Trong khi đó, thu nhập cá nhân cao hơn dự kiến.

Ông Powell đã nói rằng cuộc chiến chống lạm phát vẫn chưa kết thúc, đồng thời nói thêm rằng lãi suất cuối cùng có thể cao hơn dự kiến trước đây. 

Cổ phiếu của Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) đã giảm 9,8% sau khi nhà sản xuất phần mềm cho biết đồng Giám đốc điều hành Bret Taylor sẽ từ chức vào tháng 1, để lại người đồng sáng lập Marc Benioff làm Giám đốc điều hành.

Cổ phiếu của Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ:COST) đã giảm 7,4% sau khi cho biết doanh số bán hàng tháng 11 tăng 5,7%, theo sau mức tăng doanh số bán hàng tháng 10 là 7,7%.

Dầu nhảy vọt. Dầu thô WTI tăng 2,9% lên 82,91 USD/thùng, trong khi dầu thô Brent tăng 2,3% lên 88,97 USD/thùng. Hợp đồng tương lai vàngcũng tăng 3,2% lên $1816.
