Vào lúc 9:53 ET (14:53 GMT), Dow Jones giảm 285 điểm hay 0,8%, trong khi S&P 500 giảm 1,1% và NASDAQ Composite giảm 1,4%.

Báo cáo của Bộ Lao động cho biết bảng lương phi nông nghiệp đã tăng 263.000, so với mức ước tính là 200.000. Các nhà tuyển dụng Mỹ đã thuê nhiều công nhân hơn dự kiến vào tháng 11 và tăng lương cho họ, trong khi tình trạng sa thải diễn ra khắp ngành công nghệ.

Đúng như dự đoán, tỷ lệ thất nghiệp giữ nguyên như tháng 10, ở mức 3,7%.

Trong một bài phát biểu vào thứ Tư, Chủ tịch Fed ông Jerome Powell cho biết ngân hàng trung ương có thể bắt đầu giảm lãi suất ngay từ tháng 12, nhưng cho biết lãi suất sẽ tiếp tục tăng và có thể kết thúc ở mức cao hơn dự kiến.

Cổ phiếu của Marvell Technology Group Ltd (NASDAQ:MRVL) đã giảm sau khi gây thất vọng về doanh thu và lợi nhuận, đồng thời đưa ra triển vọng yếu hơn dự đoán do các khách hàng, chẳng hạn như các nhà sản xuất thiết bị lưu trữ, cắt giảm lượng chip tồn kho của họ.
