Giá dầu tăng nhẹ vào ngày thứ Ba (10/01), khi Chính phủ Mỹ dự báo mức tiêu thụ xăng dầu toàn cầu đạt kỷ lục vào năm tới và khi đồng USD dao động ở mức thấp nhất trong 7 tháng.

Cơ quan Thông tin Năng lượng Mỹ (EIA) cho biết trong báo cáo Triển vọng Năng lượng Ngắn hạn của minh rằng tiêu thụ nhiên liệu lỏng toàn cầu được dự báo sẽ đạt 102.2 triệu thùng/ngày trong năm 2024, chủ yếu do tăng trưởng ở các quốc gia như Ấn Độ và Trung Quốc, phản ánh các xu hướng trong hoạt động kinh tế.

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Ba, hợp đồng dầu Brent tiến 45 xu (tương đương 0.6%) lên 80.10 USD/thùng. Hợp đồng vàng tương lai cộng 49 xu (tương đương 0.6%) lên 75.12 USD/thùng.

Các thị trường cũng chờ đợi sự rõ ràng về kế hoạch nâng lãi suất của Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed) sau khi Chủ tịch Fed Jerome Powell tránh bình luận về chính sách tiền tệ và nền kinh tế tại một hội nghị chuyên đề. Nhà đầu tư hiện đang chờ đợi dữ liệu CPI của Mỹ công bố vào ngày 12/01 để tìm kiếm các dấu hiệu về triển vọng trong ngắn hạn.

Tamas Varga của PVM nhận định: “Dữ liệu ngày 12/01 có thể dễ dàng làm rõ hướng đi của thị trường tài chính và dầu mỏ trong nhiều tuần tới”.

Ông Varga cho biết đồng USD sẽ giảm nếu lạm phát thấp hơn kỳ vọng hoặc thấp hơn mức tháng 11/2022.

Đồng USD hiện dao động quanh mức thấp nhất trong 7 tháng. Đồng USD suy yếu có thể thúc đẩy nhu cầu dầu, vì hàng hoá được neo giá theo đồng bạc xanh trở nên ít đắt đỏ hơn đối với người nắm giữ những đồng tiền khác.

Thống đốc Fed Michelle Bowman cho biết ngân hàng trung ương Mỹ sẽ phải nâng lãi suất cao hơn để đối phó lạm phát và điều đó có thể sẽ dẫn đến điều kiện thị trường lao động yếu hơn.

Vào ngày thứ Hai (09/01), hợp đồng dầu Brent và dầu WTI đều tăng 1% sau khi Trung Quốc, quốc gia nhập khẩu dầu lớn nhất thế giới và là quốc gia tiêu thụ dầu lớn thứ 2 thế giới, đã mở cửa biên giới lần đầu tiên sau 3 năm vào cuối tuần qua.

Trung Quốc cũng ban hành mức hạn ngạch nhập khẩu dầu thô thứ 2 cho năm 2023, nâng tổng hạn ngạch cho năm nay thêm 20% so với năm ngoái.

Tuy nhiên, các chuyên gia phân tích cho biết nhu cầu của Trung Quốc phục hồi có thể chỉ hỗ trợ giá dầu một cách hạn chế dưới áp lực suy giảm từ nền kinh tế toàn cầu.
