Trong ngày 26/12, giới đầu tư dậy sóng trước thông tin Tập đoàn SK bán tài sản ở Việt Nam, Malaysia. Tuy nhiên, ông lớn Hàn Quốc đã lên tiếng phủ nhận tin đồn này, theo nguồn tin từ DealStreetAsia.

Trước đó, tờ Korea Economic Daily ghi nhận trong ngày 25/12 rằng Tập đoàn SK đang cân nhắc bán cổ phần ở 6 công ty Việt Nam và 1 công ty Malaysia.

Nguồn tin này cho biết SK South East Asia Investment – công ty con của SK Group – đang nắm 6.1% cổ phần của Vingroup (HM:VIC), 9.5% cổ phần của Masan Group (HM:MSN), 4.5% cổ phần của Pharmacity, 54% cổ phần của Imexpharm (IMP (HM:IMP)), 16.3% cổ phần của Wincommerce và 4.9% cổ phần của The CrownX. Ngoài ra, ông lớn Hàn Quốc còn giữ lượng cổ phần chưa xác định ở BigPay – một công ty công nghệ tài chính của Tập đoàn Malaysia AirAsia.

Trước đó, SK Southeast Asia Investment được cho là huy động tổng cộng 1 tỷ USD từ năm công ty con của SK, bao gồm SK Inc., SK E&S, SK Hynix, SK Telecom Co. và SK Innovation. Cùng với Pension Service - quỹ hưu trí quốc gia Hàn Quốc, SK South East Asia Investment đã chi tới 3 ngàn tỷ Won (2.34 tỷ USD) để mua cổ phần ở 7 công ty nói trên.

Tờ Korea Economic Daily dẫn nguồn tin thân cận cho biết Tập đoàn SK bị buộc phải bán tài sản khi “các điều kiện kinh tế xấu đi”, đồng thời nói thêm lượng tiền từ việc thoái vốn có thể được tái đầu tư ở các công ty có triển vọng hứa hẹn ở Đông Nam Á.

Một đại diện của Tập đoàn SK nói với DealStreetAsia rằng thông tin này không đúng sự thật. Tập đoàn SK không có ý định rút khỏi Việt Nam hay bán bất kỳ tài sản lớn nào, vị đại diện cho biết.

“Thay vào đó, chúng tôi lên kế hoạch giữ lại các khoản đầu tư và phối hợp với các đối tác để tăng trưởng tài sản”, đại diện của SK nói với DealStreetAsia.

Đại diện của Tập đoàn SK cho biết thông tin từ Korea Economic Daily đã nói quá phần phát biểu của Chủ tịch Tập đoàn SK Chey Tae-won về chuyện chuẩn bị cho những “cơn gió ngược” trong tương lai. Tờ Korea Economic Daily cho biết trong tháng trước, ông Chey Tae-won thúc giục Tổng Giám đốc của các công ty con tích trữ tiền mặt để chuẩn bị cho trường hợp khẩn cấp.

Ở Việt Nam, gã khổng lồ Hàn Quốc đã chi mạnh cho giao dịch 1 tỷ USD ở Vingroup và hàng trăm triệu USD ở Masan và các công ty con. Thời gian gần đây, Tập đoàn SK còn nâng sở hữu ở Imexpharm lên 64.6% thông qua việc mua cổ phiếu trên sàn. Khoản đầu tư vào The CrownX cũng chỉ mới được thông báo vào cuối năm 2021.

Trong khi đó, theo thông tin từ DealStreetAsia, Tập đoàn SK đang muốn tuyển dụng thêm cho đội ngũ ở Việt Nam.
