Giá vàng đã rút khỏi mức đáy 1 tuần vào ngày thứ Ba (11/10), được hỗ trợ bởi đồng USD suy yếu, trong khi nhà đầu tư chuẩn bị cho một báo cáo lạm phát quan trọng của Mỹ dự kiến sẽ ảnh hưởng đến lập trường chính sách tiền tệ của Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed).

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Ba, hợp đồng vàng giao ngay tiến 0.6% lên 1,677.70 USD/oz, sau khi tăng 1% vào đầu phiên. Hợp đồng vàng tương lai cộng 0.6% lên 1,686.00 USD/oz.

Đồng USD lùi 0.3%, làm vàng trở nên ít đắt đỏ hơn đối với những người mua nước ngoài.

Lợi suất trái phiếu Chính phủ Mỹ kỳ hạn 10 năm xoá bớt đà tăng từ đầu phiên, giúp hỗ trợ nhu cầu kim loại không đem lại lợi suất.

Tuy nhiên, Ryan McKay, Chiến lược gia hàng hoá tại TD Securities, nhận định: “Có rất nhiều động thái giá mỗi ngày bị nhiễu vào lúc này, khi thị trường vẫn đang chờ đợi xem dữ liệu lạm phát và biên bản cuộc họp của Fed như thế nào trong cuộc họp tiếp theo của Fed”.

Báo cáo lạm phát của Mỹ công bố vào ngày thứ Năm dự kiến vẫn sẽ ở mức cao và củng cố lập trường diều hâu của Fed về chính sách tiền tệ.

Lãi suất Mỹ cao sẽ làm tăng chi phí cơ hội của việc nắm giữ vàng, vốn không đem lại lợi suất.

Craig Erlam, Chuyên gia phân tích thị trường cấp cao tại Oanda, nhận định: “Nhìn về tương lai, thật khó để tạo ra một trường hợp hỗ trợ giá cho vàng, khi cân nhắc lạm phát đỉnh điểm có thể chưa đạt tới, với việc lãi suất có thể tiếp tục tăng cho đến khi xảy ra kịch bản như vậy”.
