Giá vàng giảm nhẹ vào ngày thứ Hai (07/11), ổn định gần mức đỉnh 3 tuần ghi nhận trong phiên trước đó, được thúc đẩy bởi đà suy yếu của đồng USD, trong khi nhà đầu tư trông đợi dữ liệu lạm phát tại Mỹ vào cuối tuần này có thể ảnh hưởng đến quy mô nâng lãi suất của Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed).

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Hai, hợp đồng vàng giao ngay lùi 0.34% xuống 1,674.49 USD/oz, sau khi vọt hơn 3% lên mức cao nhất kể từ ngày 13/10 là 1,681.69 USD/oz vào ngày thứ Sáu (04/11).

Hợp đồng vàng tương lai nhích 0.06% lên 1,677.60 USD/oz.

Bob Haberkorn, Chiến lược gia thị trường cấp cao tại RJO Futures, nhận định: “Đồng USD suy yếu, lợi suất đang giảm nhẹ và đó là những điều đang hỗ trợ vàng”.

Đồng USD đã nới rộng đà giảm xuống mức thấp nhất trong hơn 1 tuần, làm vàng trở nên hấp dẫn hơn đối với người sử dụng những đồng tiền khác.

Dữ liệu vào ngày 04/11 cho thấy nền kinh tế đã tạo ra nhiều việc làm hơn trong tháng 10, nhung tỷ lệ thất nghiệp tăng lên 3.7% đã làm tăng hy vọng rằng Fed sẽ bớt quyết liệt hơn trong việc nâng lãi suất sắp tới.

Mặc dù vàng được xem là kênh phòng ngừa lạm phát, lãi suất cao hơn làm tăng chi phí cơ hội cho việc nắm giữ vàng.

“Nếu Fed tạm dừng hoặc bắt dầu giảm tốc các đợt nâng lãi suất, vàng sẽ được hưởng lợi và đó là những gì chúng ta đã thấy hồi cuối tuần trước…”, ông Haberkorn nói.

Báo cáo chỉ số giá tiêu dùng CPI tại Mỹ dự kiến công bố vào ngày thứ Năm (10/11). Nhà đầu tư hiện định giá khả năng 67% Fed sẽ nâng lãi suất thêm 50 điểm cơ bản tại cuộc họp tháng 12/2022.

Cũng thu hút sự chú ý là cuộc bầu cử giữa nhiệm kỳ của Mỹ vào ngày thứ Ba (08/11), cuộc bầu cử sẽ xác định quyền kiếm soát Quốc hội Mỹ và có thể thúc đẩy nhiều động thái trên thị trường.
