Giá vàng tăng phiên thứ 2 liên tiếp vào ngày thứ Ba (18/10) khi đồng USD giảm xuống mức thấp nhất từ đầu tháng 10/2022.

Kết thúc phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Ba, hợp đồng vàng giao ngay nhích 0.1% lên 1,651.50 USD/oz. Hợp đồng vàng tương lai cộng 0.4% lên 1,656.60 USD/oz.

Edward Moya, chuyên gia phân tích cấp cao tại Oanda, nhận định: “Bạn đang thấy lợi suất giảm và đà tăng của đồng USD chắc chắn đã gặp phải rào cản lớn… vàng, ít nhất, đã không thấy áp lực bán quay lai – nó đang ổn định phần nào”.

Đồng USD đã chạm mức thấp nhất kể từ ngày 06/10, làm vàng trở nên ít đắt đỏ hơn đối với những người mua nước ngoài. Lợi suất trái phiếu Chính phủ Mỹ cũng giảm.

“Tuy nhiên, đến cuối cùng, yếu tố tác động chính đối với vàng sẽ là chu kỳ nâng lãi suất của Cục Dự trữ Liên bang Mỹ (Fed)”, ông Moya nói.

Kỳ vọng Fed sẽ nâng lãi suất mạnh đã được củng cố sau báo cáo lạm phát tiêu dùng nóng tại Mỹ hồi tuần trước, với việc các thị trường định giá Fed sẽ nâng lãi suất thêm 75 điểm cơ bản vào tháng 11/2022.

Lãi suất cao làm giảm sức hấp dẫn của vàng vì làm tăng chi phí cơ hội cho việc nắm giữ tài sản không đem lại lợi suất.

Trong khi đó, Phó Thống đốc ngân hàng trung ương Nga, Alexei Zabotkin, cho biết vào ngày thứ Ba rằng việc tăng thêm dự trữ vàng và ngoại hối là không phù hợp vào lúc này, vì sẽ tạo động lực tăng trưởng cung tiền.
