Vào năm 2019, vốn hóa của VNG được định giá vượt xa FPT (HM:FPT), công ty công nghệ lớn nhất trên sàn chứng khoán lúc bấy giờ. Ngày 5/1/2023 tới đây, 35,8 triệu cổ phiếu VNZ của CTCP VNG sẽ chính thức được giao dịch trên sàn UPCoM.

Mức giá tham chiếu trong ngày giao dịch đầu tiên của cổ phiếu VNZ là 240.000 đồng/cp. Nếu tính theo mức giá này, vốn hóa của VNG đạt mức 8.592 tỷ đồng (tương đương chưa đến 350 triệu USD). Đáng chú ý, mức giá này thấp hơn nhiều so với định giá tỷ đô trước đây của “kỳ lân” Việt Nam.

Cụ thể, VNG được định giá 1 tỷ USD vào năm 2014, trở thành kỳ lân đầu tiên tại Việt Nam – theo World Startup Report.

Sang đến năm 2019, VNG đã bán ra 355.820 cổ phiếu quỹ với giá 1.861.800 đồng/cp cho Seletar Investments, quỹ đầu tư thuộc Temasek Holdings của chính phủ Singapore.

Sau giao dịch, Seletar nắm giữ 1,74 triệu cổ phiếu, tương đương 6,35% lượng cổ phần biểu quyết của VNG. Mức giá Seletar l mua tương đương với việc định giá VNG hiện khoảng trên 51.000 nghìn tỷ đồng (khoảng 2,2 tỷ USD), và hơn gấp đôi so với mức định giá 1 tỷ USD của công ty vào năm 2014.

Tức tại thời điểm 2019, vốn hóa của VNG đã vượt xa FPT, công ty công nghệ lớn nhất trên sàn chứng khoán chỉ được định giá 27.200 tỷ đồng. Tuy nhiên, trái với FPT lợi nhuận tăng trưởng đều đặn qua các năm, VNG được định giá cao trong bối cảnh lợi nhuận công ty sụt giảm mạnh. Năm 2018, lợi nhuận sau thuế của VNG chỉ đạt 347 tỷ đồng, giảm 64% so với cùng kỳ.

Về tình hình kinh doanh năm nay, quý 3/2022, VNG ghi nhận doanh thu thuần đạt 2.100 tỷ đồng, giảm 3,7% so với cùng kỳ. Tuy nhiên, khoản lỗ 27,6 tỷ đồng từ công ty liên kết và lỗ khác 26,1 tỷ đồng đã nhấn chìm lợi nhuận của VNG.

Kết quả, kỳ lân công nghệ báo lỗ sau thuế 254,5 tỷ đồng. Đây cũng là quý thua lỗ thứ 4 liên tiếp của VNG.

Luỹ kế 9 tháng đầu năm, VNG mang về 5.763 tỷ đồng doanh thu, tăng nhẹ so với cùng kỳ, song lỗ sau thuế 764 tỷ đồng.

Theo tìm hiểu, VNG xuất thân là một công ty phát hành game online thành lập năm 2004. Những năm gần đây, VNG đã đầu tư sang nhiều mảng kinh doanh mới như ứng dụng Zalo, thanh toán, thương mại điện tử, quảng cáo... Năm 2022, Bloomberg đưa tin CTCP VNG, kỳ lân công nghệ đầu tiên của Việt Nam đang cân nhắc việc niêm yết tại Mỹ thông qua sáp nhập với một công ty mua lại có mục đích đặc biệt (SPAC). Tuy nhiên, cho đến nay, kế hoạch đầy tham vọng này chưa được cập nhật gì thêm.
